According to the latest reports, Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to make another move for Valencia frontman David Villa as Dimitar Berbatov’s mediocre form has left the door open for a top class striker to join the club. Villa is one of the most coveted footballers on the international soccer scene at the very moment and it would be regarded as a major coup if Sir Alex Ferguson manages to bring the marksman to Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson has recommended that Gary Neville should be given a one year contract extension by Manchester United. The highly experienced defender has fought back from a serious ankle injury to make his long awaited comeback in the first team at Manchester United and although the club were reluctant to make a decision until he had proved his fitness, the Old Trafford manager now wants to hand the evergreen player a new deal.

Sir Alex Ferguson´s Manchester United team came from behind to beat Liverpool at The Theatre of Dreams on Sunday to go to the top of the Premier League table, while fellow title contenders Chelsea suffered a setback against a confident Blackburn Rovers side at Ewood Park. Despite a nerve wracking ending, the hard working Manchester United players managed to hold on to their lead and eventually defeated their old rivals Liverpool 2–1.

The FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in 1963 signalled a new golden era for Manchester United as they defeated Leicester City 3–1 with a goal from Denis Law and two from David Herd. Matt Busby´s Manchester United side gradually took control of the match and the opening goal came after 30 minutes of play when Paddy Crerand found Denis Law who managed to knock the ball into the back of the net to give his club a fully deserved lead.

Apparently, Manchester United centre forward Wayne Rooney has made a commitment to deliver goals at a rate most of his rivals cannot aspire to emulate. The Liverpool born player has been in terrific form so far this campaign and the goal hungry frontman has even been tipped to break the 40 goal mark as he closes on the 42 goal record achieved by previous Manchester United favourite Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2007-08 season.

On the 21st of May 2008 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Sir Alex Ferguson´s team won the first ever Champions League final containing only English clubs. Dutch veteran goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was the hero of the night with a highly impressive penalty save to deny France international Nicolas Anelka after Chelsea captain John Terry missed the one that would have seen the West Londoners lift the European Cup for the first time.
