Wayne Rooney Helps England Win

Wayne Rooney helped England to come from behind to beat Japan 2–1 in the last friendly match before the World Cup in South Africa. However, the first half in Graz turned out to be a rather dismal affair as England failed to take control against the aggressive Japanese team. Japan went ahead after just seven minutes when poor marking at a corner allowed Marcus Tulio Tanaka to score. Frank Lampard then saw his penalty kick being saved by the Japan goalkeeper before Aaron Lennon wasted a decent opportunity as he was denied a goal after receiving the ball from Rooney.
Ben Foster Signs for Birmingham

Reportedly, Manchester United goalkeeper Ben Foster has teamed up with Birmingham City after leaving the Old Trafford brigade in order to further his professional footballing career. The England international has agreed a three year contract after being sold to the ambitious Black Country club for an estimated transfer fee of £6 million. The Manchester United third choice was brought in following Manchester City’s decision to retain the services of Joe Hart and Birmingham St. Andrew´s manager Alex McLeish is confident the talented goalkeeper can get a fresh start at Birmingham.
Ji-sung Park Hits Home in Style

A goal from Manchester United midfielder Ji-sung Park and a well taken penalty kick from Park Chu-young gave South Korea a fully deserved 2–0 victory over bitter adversaries Japan in Saitama Stadium on Monday evening. The Manchester United favourite opened the scoring against Japan with a brilliant goal after only six minutes when the rocket heeled South Korean managed to beat three opposing defenders before he found the back of the net.

According to the latest reports, Manchester United are closing in on Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart as the Old Trafford club prepare a huge bid for the sought after Holland international. The immensly talented Dutchman has also been linked with moves to fierce Premier League rivals Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur. Nevertheless, it is believed that Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson now plans to replace former England international Paul Scholes with the highly rated playmaker and that the shrewd Scot is ready to come up with a £20 million offer.

Born and growing up in the very heart of Protestant East Belfast, David McCreery was steeped from an early age in a marinade of politics and religion. An incredible versatile player who offered considerable skill and hard work, the promising midfielder was first spotted by legendary Manchester United scout Bob Bishop and made his first league appearance for the club in a goalless draw against Portsmouth at Fratton Park in October 1974.
Kevin Moran Was A True Fighter

Born in Dublin, Kevin Moran was discovered by Manchester United scout Billy Behan in 1978 and went on to make his league debut for the club against Southampton the following year. Hard working and totally committed to the game, his aggression in the tackle and his excellent distribution skills soon made the courageous stopper a massive favourite with the home fans and he won the FA Cup with the club in both 1983 and 1985.

Although Manchester United lost out in their first attempt to sign French international starlet Karim Benzema last year, manager Sir Alex Ferguson has not given up hope of luring the young Real Madrid forward to Old Trafford. Brought to Real Madrid for an estimated transfer fee of £31 million at the start of the 2009-10 season, he has played only 14 league matches this campaign and his club are now willing to let him go for around £25 million.

Born in Barnsley and proud of it, Jimmy Greenhoff played for Leeds United and Birmingham City before he decided to move on to Tony Waddington´s Stoke City where he became part of the now legendary side that won the Football League Cup in 1972. Four years later, the goal poacher extraordinaire made an unexpectedly £120,000 move to Manchester United where he would team up with his younger brother Brian Greenhoff.

Born and grown in the small village of Lesmahagow, Jim Holton initiated his footballing career as an amateur player with Celtic before he signed a professional contract with First Division club West Bromwich Albion in 1968. As things turned out, Holton struggled to make the first team at West Brom and the young central defender would eventually leave for Third Division outfit Shrewsbury Town at the beginning of the 1971–72 season.
