The England players set out to beat Germany at the Free State Stadium in Bloemfontei on Sunday but the German side crushed Fabio Capello´s team 4–1 in a controversial match between the old rivals. Miroslav Klose gave Germany the lead on 20 minutes as he latched on to a long goal kick from Manuel Neuer to score the opening goal of the game before Lukas Podolski made it 2–0 after 32 minutes when he found the net with a low effort.

With neighbouring Manchester City expected to make a move for Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic, Sir Alex Ferguson is ready to launch a £25 million bid for Italian player Giorgio Chiellini. Despite of the fact that Chiellini has two seasons left on his current contract with Juventus, the club officials are likely to accept an offer for the strong and dependable central defender as they plan to rebuild their side following a mediocre season.

The Three Lions shook off a mediocre start to the 2010 World Cup in South Africa to defeat plucky Slovenia 1–0 in front of a 36,000 crowd at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Wednesday. Thanks to a brilliantteam effort the England side managed to go through to the Second Round of the tournament and a clash with Germany while a Landon Donovan goal against Algeria took the United States to the very top of the group.
Zoran Tosic Leaves
Manchester United winger Zoran Tosic has joined Russian club CSKA Moscow for an estimated transfer fee of £8 million after only 18 months at Old Trafford. The Serbia international, who was signed from Partizan Belgrade for £7 million in the winter of 2009 before he was loaned out to FC Cologne a year later, grew increasingly frustrated with his lack of first team opportunities and felt he had no choice but to leave Manchester United.

Although injury kept Ji-sung Park out of South Korea’s final warm up match against Spain the Manchester United midfielder was back in time for the game against Greece at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Port Elizabeth on Saturday. The South Korea players were off to a fine start as defender Lee Jung-soo volleyed home Ki Sung-yueng’s brilliantly taken free kick in the seventh minute of the encounter. Ji-sung Park went on to clinch the win after 52 minutes when the midfield dynamo beat two defenders before he put the ball behind helpless goalkeeper Alexandros Tzorvas.

Born in Cape Town, Quinton Fortune came to England at the age eleven and started out his career with Tottenham Hotspur while attending school. After brief spells with Spanish clubs Atletico Madrid and Mallorca, he was discovered by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson and the lavishly gifted midfield creator made his first league appearance for Manchester United in a 5–1 win over Newcastle United at Old Trafford in August 1999.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to make a serious bid for Everton midfield player Mikel Arteta this summer as the Goodison Park officials are prepared to let the Spanish playmaker go if a new extended contract cannot be agreed. In his constant search for excellence the Manchester United boss has maintained on numerous occasions that his ageing first team squad is in need of a major overhaul before the start of the new Premier League campaign. With this in mind, Mikel Arteta would no doubt add some much needed flair and panache to the Manchester United side.
