Balkan player Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring yesterday with a powerful headed goal in the fifth minute of the encounter and the former Tottehham Hotspur centre forward then added a second goal 12 minutes into the second period.

Andrei Kanchelskis started his career at Dynamo Kiev in 1988 before the rampant right winger moved to Shakhtar Donetsk three years later. The Ukrainian eventually signed with Manchester United for £650,000 in the spring of 1991 and made his Premier League debut for The Reds in a 3–0 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in May 1991.
