Sir Alex Ferguson´s Manchester United side remain at the top of the Barclays Premier League table after thumping Sunderland 2–0 at The Theatre of Dreams in a one sided contest on Sunday afternoon. Balkan player Dimitar Berbatov opened the scoring yesterday with a powerful headed goal in the fifth minute of the encounter and the former Tottehham Hotspur centre forward then added a second goal 12 minutes into the second period.

High flying Manchester United prepare themselves to take on to seventh placed Sunderland at the Theatre of Dreams on Boxing Day in what promises to be a match between different styles of play. The Manchester United players emerged as fully deserved winners against fellow title contenders Arsenal at Old Trafford in their last Premier League match, while Steve Bruce´s Sunderland managed to beat Bolton Wanderers at the Stadium of Light.

Andrei Kanchelskis started his career at Dynamo Kiev in 1988 before the rampant right winger moved to Shakhtar Donetsk three years later. The Ukrainian eventually signed with Manchester United for £650,000 in the spring of 1991 and made his Premier League debut for The Reds in a 3–0 loss to Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in May 1991.

Hailing from the nearby town of Stockport, Alan Gowling joined Manchester United at the beginning of the 1966–67 season. Strong and deceptively quick for a big player, he made his league debut for Manchester United in a 4–2 win over Stoke City at Victoria Ground in March 1968 but his Old Trafford career was over before it really began.
