The Football Association has confirmed the temporary appointment of Stuart Pearce as the successor of Fabio Capello The England Under-21s manager, who played 78 matches for his country between 1987 and 1999, will take charge of The Three Lions senior team for their clash with the Netherlands at Wembley on 29 February.

A brace from Wayne Rooney gave Manchester United a 2–1 win against Kenny Dalglish´s Liverpool at Old Trafford on Saturday. Luis Suarez managed to score a close range goal in the 81st minute of the contest but a well organised Manchester United team were able to keep the visitors at bay for the remainder of the game to win 2–1.

Manchester United are looking to extract revenge on old rivals Liverpool after being knocked out of the FA Cup by Kenny Dalglish´s troops a fortnight ago. The Mancunians are likely to miss the services of Tom Cleverley and Nani due to various injuries, while Liverpool´s Jose Enrique Sanchez is doubtful with a hamstring problem.

England manager Fabio Capello has resigned following the Football Association’s decision to strip John Terry of the England captaincy due to racism allegations. Capello decided to quit the England job after a meeting with the Football Association chairman, David Bernstein, and the general secretary, Alex Horne, at Wembley Stadium.

Manchester United starlet Ezekiel Fryers has turned down a new contract offer from Sir Alex Ferguson thought to be worth a basic £1,500 per week. Sir Alex Ferguson praised his players after they came from 3–0 down to win a point against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday. Daniel Sturridge, Juan Mata and David Luiz gave Chelsea a three goal lead, before two converted penalties from Wayne Rooney and a late headed goal from Javier Hernandez saw The Reds gain a 3–3 draw.

Manchester United take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday in what looks to be a fiercely contested affair. The Reds beat Stoke City 2–0 in midweek courtesy of penalty goals from Javier Hernandez and Dimitar Berbatov, while the Londoners drew 1–1 with Swansea City thanks to an equaliser from Jose Bosingwa in stoppage time.
