When Manchester United take on the Kansas City Wizards at the newly revamped Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City on Sunday, it will be the biggest international soccer match in the city’s history. Following matches against Celtic and Philadelphia Union the upcoming clash with the Wizards will be Manchester United’s fourth stop on their current summer tour of North America. Sir Alex Ferguson is expecting a tough tie in Kansas City as he believes soccer is finally begining to take hold in the United States and that the standard of Major League Soccer is better than ever.

Manchester United defeated Philadelphia Union 1–0 at Lincoln Financial Field yesterday as French flankman Gabriel Obertan scored the only goal of the pre-season game to hand the visitors a narrow win. Manchester United clinched the victory in the 76th minute of the encounter when a magnificent pass from Danny Welbeck gave the former Bordeaux favourite the opportunity to find the back of the net with a fine shot from close range.
Javier Hernandez to Make His Debut

Mexican international Javier Hernandez is set for his Manchester United debut while the Old Trafford club are in America. The striker will join the squad at the end of their North American Tour as he will team up against his former club Club Deportivo Guadalajara in Mexico on 30 July. Impressed by the 22 year old player’s strike rate Sir Alex Ferguson signed Hernandez for an undisclosed fee before the highly rated youngster left for the World Cup. As part of the deal Manchester United will now play a friendly against Chivas to open their state of the art 45 000 capacity stadium.
Nani Set to Return

Manchester United winger Nani is set to return from injury after dislocating his collarbone shortly before the opening of the World Cup tournament in South Africa. The Portugal international started full training with his fellow team mates a couple of days ago and the free flowing footballer hopes to play a few games in America. Manchester United will be up against Major League side Philadelphia Union on Wednesday in the second leg of their current North American summer tour and Sir Alex Ferguson’s players have already comfortably settled into the Pennsylvania metropolis.

Despite the downturn in spending under the Glazer regime, Wayne Rooney is about to close a lucrative £35 million deal that will make him the best paid player in Manchester United history. Although Sir Alex Ferguson was eager to formalise contract talks in earnest with the highly rated frontman before the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, Manchester United eventually agreed with Wayne Rooney and his representative Paul Stretford not to begin negotiations until the conclusion of the tournament. The new agreement will keep the England international at Manchester United until 2015.

Manchester United got off to a winning start on their 2010 North America pre-season tour as Sir Alex Ferguson´s troops defeated Glasgow Celtic 3–1 in front of a 40,000 crowd at the Rogers Centre in Toronto. The Manchester United players went into a fully deserved 1–0 lead when Bulgarian international Dimitar Berbatov managed to find the back of the net in the 34th minute of the friendly encounter with a magnificent left foot drive.

Manchester United are facing Glasgow Celtic at the Rogers Centre in Toronto on Friday, July 16, 2010. Apart from Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney, Manchester United have most of their first team players available including veteran players Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes. Following the friendly against the Bhoys, Manchester United will play Philadelphia Union, Kansas City Wizards and the Major League Soccer All Stars. Although Celtic opened their North American Tour with a 1–0 defeat to Philadelphia Union at the PPL Stadium, it should be a competitive match.

The new Manchester United home kit for the upcoming season was revealed today, with the logo of Aon featured on the front of the famous red shirt and inside the shirt on the back of the club crest is the mantra of Manchester United. The brand new home kit combines elements of Manchester United history with new technology as every single shirt has been made from recycled polyester as a part of Nike’s Considered Design Program.

Manchester United veteran player Ryan Giggs has revealed that his future in soccer could be in the Major Soccer League where old team mate David Beckham plays for Los Angeles Galaxy. Currently taking part in United’s 2010 North America Tour, the Wales international has admitted that he might consider a switch when his contract at Old Trafford finishes at the end of next season. The Cardiff born veteran has enjoyed a remarkable spell at Manchester United after playing over 800 appearances for the club since making his first team debut at home to Everton in March 1991.

The 26-year-old Scotland international is eager to play against Glasgow Celtic at the Rogers Center in Toronto on Friday July 16 and the experienced midfield dynamo firmly believes the trip to North America represents ideal preparation for the new season ahead. Manchester United´s 2010 summer tour will be the Old Trafford club´s first trip to the United States under the American ownership of the Florida based Glazer family.
