Promising Manchester United youngster Danny Drinkwater has joined Football League Championship outfit Leicester City for an undisclosed transfer free. The Manchester born midfield player signed a trainee contract with The Reds at the end of the 2005-06 campaign and has previously been loaned out to Huddersfield Town, Cardiff City, Watford and Barnsley in order to acquire valuable first team experience.

Hailing from Hamilton, David Herd initiated his professional career with Stockport County where the young and talented striker clocked up 15 league appearances before he was sold to Arsenal for £10,000 in 1954. After scoring 107 goals in 180 games for The Gunners, the natural born hitman was signed by Manchester United manager Matt Busby for a transfer fee of £35,000 at the beginning of the 1961–62 campaign.

Born and growing up in Glasgow, Scott McGarvey made his first appearance in the league for Manchester United when he came on as a substitute in a convincing 5–0 triumph against Leicester City at Old Trafford in September 1980. Failing to live up to the expectations, McGarvey managed to play 25 league matches for Manchester United before he was dispatched to Second Division side Portsmouth for a fee of £85,000 in the summer of 1984.

The FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in 1963 signalled a new golden era for Manchester United as they defeated Leicester City 3–1 with a goal from Denis Law and two from David Herd. Matt Busby´s Manchester United side gradually took control of the match and the opening goal came after 30 minutes of play when Paddy Crerand found Denis Law who managed to knock the ball into the back of the net to give his club a fully deserved lead.
