Accord­ing to the latest reports, prom­ising Manchester United star­let Ezekiel Fry­ers has turned down a new con­tract offer from Sir Alex Fer­guson said to be worth a basic £1,500 per week. An uncom­prom­ising and determ­ined full back, Fry­ers made his senior debut for Manchester United in a respect­able 3–0 Carling Cup win over Foot­ball League Cham­pi­on­ship side Leeds United at Elland Road in Septem­ber 2011.

Born and brought up in Manchester, Roger Byrne was one of Manchester United’s greatest cap­tains and his impact on the Old Traf­ford club can­not be over­es­tim­ated. Byrne went on to to make his first appear­ance for Manchester United in a First Divi­sion match against Liv­er­pool at Anfield Road in the 1951–52 sea­son and the gif­ted full back went on to become a mem­ber of the legendary Busby Babes side of the 1950s.

When the legendary man­ager died on the 20th of Janu­ary 1994, a vast amount of sup­port­ers turned out to pay their last respects and two years later a bronze statue was unveiled at the Score­board End of Old Traf­ford in hon­our of the big man who was simply known as Mr. Manchester United.
