According to latest newspaper reports, Manchester United central defender Jonny Evans looks certain to sign a new and highly lucrative contract with the Old Trafford club. The Ulsterman, who is a product of the Manchester United Youth Academy, stands to earn somewhere in the region of £65,000-a-week over a five year period.

Manchester United starlet Federico Macheda has been fined a cool £15,000 after making homophobic comments on Twitter. The Italian striker was charged by the Football Association last month along with Nile Ranger and Manny Smith who were fined £6,000 and £1,200 respectively for insulting remarks on the social networking site.

Sir Alex Ferguson has said Luis Suarez should never play for Liverpool again after refusing to shake Patrice Evra’s hand during the traditional pre-match greeting at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Uruguay international was given an eight game ban and fined £40,000 after the Football Association claimed he racially abused the Manchester United full back during the 1–1 draw at Anfield Road back in October 2011.
