And although the former Wales international has won everything there is to win as a professional footballer, the 38-year-old seasoned campaigner is still hungry for success and believes that he has lots to contribute to Manchester United’s bid for even more silverware both at home and abroad.

The two teams last played each other in the FA Cup in January 2011 when Manchester United ran out 1–0 winners at Old Trafford courtesy of a converted penalty kick from evergreen veteran Ryan Giggs.

Sir Alex Ferguson´s title challenging Manchester United side quite simply outclassed Fulham to the tune of 5–0 at Craven Cottage on Wednesday evening courtesy of goals from Danny Wellbeck, Luis Nani, Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov. As the match developed, the plucky West London outfit never really stood a chance against a highly energetic Manchester United team brimming with self-belief.

Manchester United veteran Ryan Giggs, who made his debut for the club when he came on as a substitute for Denis Irwin in a 2–0 defeat against Everton in 1991, wants to extend his Old Trafford career until at the end of next season. A Manchester local, the former Wales player is ready to sign a one-year deal with The Red Devils and has confirmed he will be speaking to manager Sir Alex Ferguson about a contract extension.

Manchester United, who missed the injured Wayne Rooney, went into a 2 – 0 lead at half time thanks to a brace from Danny Welbeck but as the second period progressed Thorsten Fink´s men became much more of a threat.

Portugal international winger Nani opened the score sheet with a breathtaking individual display in the 27th minute of play before a brilliant headed goal from Stoke forward Peter Crouch seven minutes into the second half ended Manchester United´s winning streak.

Manchester United were rescued by an outstanding individual effort from veteran Ryan Giggs to draw equal with Benfica at the Estadio da Luz on Wednesday. Oscar Cardozo opened the scoring when he drove a devastating shot across the face of the Manchester United goalkeeper and into the far corner of the goal after 24 minutes before Giggs powered the visiting side level three minutes before the half time whistle.

Manchester United outclassed Major League Soccer outfit New England Revolution to the tune of 4–1 before a crowd of 50,000 at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough on Wednesday. Exciting new winger Ashley Young made his Manchester United debut last night and the £20 million signing from Blackburn Rovers had a good match before he was substituted by free flowing flankman Gabriel Obertan in the 67th minute of the game.
