A first period goal from Wayne Rooney sealed a final day triumph for Manchester United against Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Sunday. Unfortunately, the 1–0 victory was not enough to win the English Premier League title as Roberto Mancini´s Manchester City team managed to beat Queens Park Rangers 3–2 at Etihad Stadium.

Manchester United defeated Brendan Rodgers´s Swansea City by 2–0 at Old Trafford on Sunday courtesy of first half goals from Paul Scholes and Ashley Young. Manchester City still top the Premier League table, though, as Roberto Mancini´s title chasing side won by the exact same score against Newcastle United at St James´s Park.
