Manchester United chief Sir Alex Ferguson was pleased with his team’s effort in the 2–0 victory against Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park on Monday night. The Old Trafford manager particularly singled out Ecuador international wing wizard Antonio Valencia who scored one goal and made one assist against The Blue and Whites.
Sir Alex Ferguson: “The goals came so late, which typifies the history of Manchester United. Coming when it did, the Antonio Valencia goal was very important. If you don’t try to shoot you will never find out if you can score. It had great power. It is vital that we win that game. We are also helped by having made up the goals deficit on Manchester City. I think it was 18 at one time. David de Gea’s progress is clear. He has always had great ability and kept us in the game here so we could go on and get those goals.”
