Eric Djemba-Djemba Never Got It Right

Cameroon born Eric Djemba-Djemba ignited his football career at Nantes before the promising youth was sold to Manchester United for a transfer fee of £3.5 million in July 2003. A tough tackling midfielder, he went on to make his debut for Manchester United against fierce rivals Arsenal in the FA Community Shield a few weeks later.
With competition for places intense at Manchester United, however, Eric Djemba-Djemba was unable to establish himself in the first team at the club. After making just 20 Premier League appearances for The Manchester Reds, the frustrated midfield player eventually moved on to Aston Villa for an estimated transfer fee of £1.5 million midway through the 2004-05 campaign. An international for his native Cameroon, Eric Djemba-Djemba was a member of the legendary side that won the African Nations Cup in 2002.
