Born in Cle­land, Joe Jordan star­ted out at Mor­ton before the youth was brought from the hel­ter skel­ter of Scot­tish foot­ball by Leeds United boss Don Revie who bought him for a bar­gain £15,000 in Octo­ber 1970. Being a quick learner, the tooth­less front­man ulti­mately estab­lished him­self as a reg­u­lar in the first team at Leeds where he would play along­side house­hold names such as Allan Clarke, Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer.

Born and grown in Dun­dee, Ralph Milne ini­ti­ated his career with local side Dun­dee United before he was sold to Charlton Ath­letic at the end of the 1986–87 cam­paign. After a short spell with The Addicks, Milne moved to Third Divi­sion Bris­tol City where the player notched up six goals in 30 league appear­ances for the club before Manchester United gaf­fer Alex Fer­guson brought him to Old Traf­ford for a fee of £150,000 in the autumn of 1988.

Born in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, Bryan Rob­son had tri­als with Burn­ley, Cov­entry City, Shef­field Wed­nes­day and New­castle United before he signed a pro­fes­sional con­tract with West Brom­wich Albion in the sum­mer of 1974. After mak­ing his first league out­ing for West Brom­wich away to York City in April 1975, the mid­field cre­ator helped the club win pro­mo­tion to the First Divison the fol­low­ing season.

The FA Cup Final at Wemb­ley Sta­dium in 1963 sig­nalled a new golden era for Manchester United as they defeated Leicester City 3–1 with a goal from Denis Law and two from David Herd. Matt Busby´s Manchester United side gradu­ally took con­trol of the match and the open­ing goal came after 30 minutes of play when Paddy Crerand found Denis Law who man­aged to knock the ball into the back of the net to give his club a fully deserved lead.

Born on the Kent coast in Rams­gate, Gary Pal­lister ini­ti­ated his long and illus­tri­ous career at North­ern League Billing­ham Town before he joined Second Divi­sion out­fit Middles­brough as a raw teen­ager in 1984. After appear­ing in 156 league matches for The Smog­gies, the rock solid cent­ral defender was even­tu­ally brought to Manchester United by ambi­tious man­ager Alex Fer­guson for a trans­fer fee of £2.3 mil­lion at the begin­ning of the 1989–90 sea­son. A tough tack­ling defender with excel­lent con­trol of the ball, Pal­lister made over 300 appear­ances for Manchester United and he was a reg­u­lar in the all con­quer­ing side of the 1990´s.

An Edin­burgh nat­ive, Arthur Albis­ton signed pro­fes­sional terms with Manchester United in the sum­mer of 1974 and the spec­tac­u­lar wing back made his first appear­ance for the club in a Foot­ball League Cup Third Round match against crosstown rivals Manchester City shortly after. As des­tiny would have it Albis­ton was to score his first goal for Manchester United in a First Divi­sion clash with Manchester City six years later.
