Born in Cleland, Joe Jordan started out at Morton before the youth was brought from the helter skelter of Scottish football by Leeds United boss Don Revie who bought him for a bargain £15,000 in October 1970. Being a quick learner, the toothless frontman ultimately established himself as a regular in the first team at Leeds where he would play alongside household names such as Allan Clarke, Eddie Gray and Peter Lorimer.

Born and grown in Dundee, Ralph Milne initiated his career with local side Dundee United before he was sold to Charlton Athletic at the end of the 1986–87 campaign. After a short spell with The Addicks, Milne moved to Third Division Bristol City where the player notched up six goals in 30 league appearances for the club before Manchester United gaffer Alex Ferguson brought him to Old Trafford for a fee of £150,000 in the autumn of 1988.

Norman Whiteside grew up in Belfast where the youth was spotted by none other than Bob Bishop. Supremely confident in his powers, the striker achieved legendary status when he became the youngest player to net in an FA Cup Final when Manchester United defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 4–0 in the replay in 1984.

Although Matt Busby took over the reins at Manchester United in October 1945, his contract with the Old Trafford club had been signed the previous February. From the moment the demobilised company sergeant major arrived at Manchester United things would never be quite the same again as the visionary manager instantly put his mark on the club, demanding powers over the hiring of personnel and the buying and selling of players.

Born in Chester-le-Street, County Durham, Bryan Robson had trials with Burnley, Coventry City, Sheffield Wednesday and Newcastle United before he signed a professional contract with West Bromwich Albion in the summer of 1974. After making his first league outing for West Bromwich away to York City in April 1975, the midfield creator helped the club win promotion to the First Divison the following season.

Hailing from London, David Beckham joined Manchester United as a trainee in 1991 and he made his first team debut a year later as a substitute in a League Cup game away to Brighton and Hove Albion. After making his first league appearance for Manchester United in a goalless draw against Leeds United at Old Trafford in April 1995, the young and lavishly gifted midfielder helped the club to Premiership and FA Cup triumphs the following year.

The FA Cup Final at Wembley Stadium in 1963 signalled a new golden era for Manchester United as they defeated Leicester City 3–1 with a goal from Denis Law and two from David Herd. Matt Busby´s Manchester United side gradually took control of the match and the opening goal came after 30 minutes of play when Paddy Crerand found Denis Law who managed to knock the ball into the back of the net to give his club a fully deserved lead.

On the 21st of May 2008 at the Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow, Sir Alex Ferguson´s team won the first ever Champions League final containing only English clubs. Dutch veteran goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar was the hero of the night with a highly impressive penalty save to deny France international Nicolas Anelka after Chelsea captain John Terry missed the one that would have seen the West Londoners lift the European Cup for the first time.
Gary Pallister Was Rock Solid

Born on the Kent coast in Ramsgate, Gary Pallister initiated his long and illustrious career at Northern League Billingham Town before he joined Second Division outfit Middlesbrough as a raw teenager in 1984. After appearing in 156 league matches for The Smoggies, the rock solid central defender was eventually brought to Manchester United by ambitious manager Alex Ferguson for a transfer fee of £2.3 million at the beginning of the 1989–90 season. A tough tackling defender with excellent control of the ball, Pallister made over 300 appearances for Manchester United and he was a regular in the all conquering side of the 1990´s.

An Edinburgh native, Arthur Albiston signed professional terms with Manchester United in the summer of 1974 and the spectacular wing back made his first appearance for the club in a Football League Cup Third Round match against crosstown rivals Manchester City shortly after. As destiny would have it Albiston was to score his first goal for Manchester United in a First Division clash with Manchester City six years later.
