Norman Whiteside grew up in Belfast where the talented youngster was spotted by Manchester United scout Bob Bishop. Supremely confident in his powers, Whiteside achieved legendary status when he became the youngest player to net in an FA Cup Final when Manchester United overcame Brighton by 4–0 in the replay in 1984.

Londoner David Beckham joined Manchester United as a trainee in 1991 and made his first team debut a year later in a League Cup match away to Brighton. After making his league debut in a goalless draw at home to Leeds United in April 1995, Beckham helped his club to Premiership as well as FA Cup triumphs the following campaign.

Born and raised in Barnsley, Arnold Sidebottom signed professional terms with Manchester United in February 1972. A determined stopper, the promising prospect went on to make his First Division debut for Tommy Docherty´s struggling Manchester United side in a narrow 2–1 defeat to Shefffield United at Old Trafford in April 1973.

Mancunian Peter Coyne agreed to a professional contract at Manchester United in the autumn of 1975. An England Schoolboys international, the precociously talented youth player went on to make his first league outing for Tommy Docherty´s Manchester United side in a narrow 2–1 defeat against Aston Villa at Villa Park in February 1976.

Born and bred in nearby Crompton, Paul Edwards agreed professional terms with local team Manchester United in 1965. A talented and versatile defender, he made his first team debut for Manchester United in a 3–0 defeat against old rivals Everton at Goodison Park in August 1969 and proceeded to play over 50 matches for The Reds.

Dubliner Paddy Roche started out his goalkeeping career with League of Ireland side Shelbourne. After making over 100 appearances for The Aul Reds, the Republic of Ireland international net custodian was purchased by Manchester United boss Tommy Docherty for a fee somewhere in the region of £15,000 partly into the 1973–74 season.

Hailing from the town of Urai, Jose Kleberson started his career with Atletico Paranaense where the youth became one the key components in the team. His fame spread and the promising midfield player was signed by Manchester United chief Sir Alex Ferguson for a transfer fee of around £6.5 million at the start of the 2003-04 campaign.

Hailing from Larne, Keith Gillespie signed for Manchester United at the beginning of the 1991–92 campaign. A fast and powerful winger, the Northern Irishman made his first senior appearance for Manchester United in a comfortable 2–0 win against against Division Three outfit Bury at Old Trafford in the FA Cup Third Round in January 1993.

A Mancunian, Wes Brown signed full professional terms with his local team Manchester United in November 1996 at the age of seventeen. A highly dependable defender, he made his first English Premier League appearance for The Red Devils in a 3–0 success against old arch rivals Leeds United at Old Trafford in on the fourth of May 1998.

Owen Hargreaves
Owen Hargreaves started out with his local outfit Calgary Foothills before the rising star signed for Bayern Munich at the beginning of the 1997–98 campaign. After winning four Bundesliga titles and the UEFA Champions League with The Bavarians, Hargreaves moved on to Manchester United for a cool £17 million in the summer of 2007.
