Bebe Saves The Day For The Reds

Manchester United secured a 1–1 draw with Ajax Cape Town at the Green Point Stadium in their last pre-season match in South Africa. Substitute Alcardo van Graan gave The Urban Warriors the lead four minutes before the end only for Portuguese U21 international Bebe to score the equaliser for Manchester United in stoppage time.
£16 million summer signing Shinji Kawaga should have scored for Manchester United in the 60th minute of the friendly match but the midfielder’s header went wide. Then in the 75 minute, fellow new boy Nick Powell made his Manchester United debut as a substitute and the previous Crewe Alexandra starlet quickly put the home goalkeeper to the test with a powerful shot. Ajax Cape Town eventually took the lead in front of a 50,000 crowd when second half substitute Alcardo van Graan netted with an amazing back heel flick with four minutes left on the clock. Sir Alex Ferguson´s boys hit back almost instantly, however, as Portugal U21 international Bebe equalised for the visiting side when he fired home a volley from only six yards out in stoppage time. Someone once wrote that when a team want to play a low tempo game, the opponent is more likely to oblige in your barn than in front of their own fans. How very true. And although Manchester United could only draw with Ajax Cape Town yesterday, Sir Alex Ferguson pronounced himself happy with his youthful side’s performance against Maarten Stekelenburg´s team. The Manchester Reds will now make the journey to The People’s Republic of China for the first time in three years to lock horns with Shanghai Shenhua in Shanghai on Wednesday. Manchester United Team: Ben Amos, Marnick Vermijl, Scott Wootton, Rio Ferdinand, Tyler Blackett, Antonio Valencia, Paul Scholes, Michael Carrick, Anderson, Shinji Kagawa, Javier Hernandez.
