Darren Fletcher Delighted To Be Back

Manchester United midfield playmaker Darren Fletcher is delighted to be back in the Manchester United squad after spending almost twelve months on the sidelines because of a serious bowel condition. And according to the long serving Manchester United stalwart, it is only a matter of time before he is a regular in the first team again.
Darren Fletcher´s medical problems first surfaced when he was forced to leave the field during the 3–1 win over Aston Villa at Old Trafford in February 2011. Then, at the end of the year, the seasoned campaigner was advised by specialist doctors to take a long break from the game of professional football after he was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. The causes of ulcerative colitis are not yet fully understood, but they are thought to be down to bacteria in the guts fighting against the body’s immune system. After an extended period of convalescence, however, the strong running midfield orchestrator is now focusing on re-establishing himself in the first team at Old Trafford. Darren Fletcher: “I know that the manager has got such a big squad now, especially in the midfield area, and there is a lot of competition for places. I have to be patient and wait for my chances but, hopefully, one will come around sooner rather than later. I think my general fitness is fine, it’s just match fitness, the sharpness, reaction times, things in your head and things like that.”
