Manchester United player Darron Gibson has signed for Everton for a bargain £500,000. A whole-hearted footballer with a tremendous work rate, the 24-year-old Republic of Ireland midfielder has made a total of 60 appearances for Manchester United after signing professional terms with the club at the start of the 2004-05 campaign.
Derry born Darron Gibson was discovered by Manchester United scouts at the young age of fourteen and made his first Premier League appearance for The Reds when he came on as a second period substitute in a 5–0 success against Stoke City at Old Trafford in November 2008. A Republic of Ireland international, the midfield workhorse made his full debut in a close 1–0 triumph against Cyprus at Croke Park in Dublin back in October 2008 and has so far won seventeen senior caps for the Irish national team. Back in the year of 2007, however, Gibson was in the middle of a controversial dispute between the Football Association of Ireland and the Irish Football Association after the Ulsterman had decided that he would play for the Republic of Ireland instead of Northern Ireland.
