Manchester United Chief Exec­ut­ive David Gill strongly believes that they can still com­pete in the trans­fer mar­ket with newly crowned Eng­lish Premier League cham­pi­ons Manchester City. Accord­ing to Gill, Old Traf­ford boss Sir Alex Fer­guson is going to be very act­ive over the sum­mer as the Scot looks to build another dream team.

David Gill: “Funds are avail­able without a doubt. Manchester United can still pay very well in terms of wages and trans­fer fees. Clearly Manchester City have raised the bar. We have seen that with what the club are pre­pared to pay for new play­ers and to them. But Manchester United need to move on. The Fin­an­cial Fair Play pro­gramme is just around the corner. The pro­gramme is a flag­ship for UEFA Pres­id­ent Michel Plat­ini and how that is imple­men­ted and the sanc­tions that are imposed are going to be interesting.”
