According to the latest newspaper reports, Manchester United full back Fabio da Silva could be loaned out to old European rivals Benfica next summer. Although Fabio has been with Manchester United for almost four years, the 21-year-old Brazil international defender is still struggling for a regular first team place at Old Trafford.
The Petropolis born footballer started out with his local outfit Boa Esperanca before he decided to join forces with Fluminense of Rio de Janeiro in 2005. In Feburary 2007, Fabio signed for Manchester United where the young talent made his first team debut when he came on as a substitute for French international star Patrice Evra in a 2–0 friendly victory over Peterborough United at London Road in August 2008. A quick thinking and speedy wing back, the offensive minded player likes to go forward with the ball and rapidly turn defence into attack. Hopefully, the South American will acquire more first team experience and be able to try and fulfill his obvious potential in the Premier League.
