Gary Neville Suffers Injury
Reportedly, Manchester United defender Gary Neville will miss the Old Trafford club’s upcoming pre-season tour of North America this summer after picking up an injury. The evergreen Manchester United veteran suffered a minor setback in training with a small tear to his calf muscle and it will be more beneficial for him to remain at home.
Manchester United Head Coach Sir Alex Ferguson firmly believes that it would be much better for Gary Neville to remain at the Carrington Training Centre when the Manchester United squad leave for the United States of America. Besieged by injury problems in the past, the Manchester United cornerstone was forced to fly home from the club´s Far East tour last summer as the seasoned campaigner was ruled out with a groin strain. Despite his injury problems, however, the long serving Old Trafford stalwart still managed to notch up 27 Barclays Premier League appearances for The Reds during last campaign. Gary Neville: “Manchester United now have an opportunity to put things right. The challenge this season is always the same: It’s to win the English Premier League, to do well in the cups and to do well in the UEFA Champions League. That challenge never changes. But obviously, when you don’t win anything you have an added incentive because people start to question the team and wonder if the empire is crumbling. The manager and the players have had to cope with all that before, so this challenge is something that they will all be looking forward to.” Gary Neville Fact File: Gary Neville has spent his entire career at Manchester United since he made his debut for The Red Devils against Torpedo Moscow in the UEFA Cup back in September 1992. No longer a current England international, the wing back is still a massive favourite with the home supporters and he was handed a one year extension to his contract by the club earlier this year. After having spent almost two decades at Old Trafford, Gary Neville has won everything there is to win at club level and he is one of the longest serving players in the present Manchester United squad.
