Manchester United bagged three important points against Premier League new boys Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road on Sunday. Wayne Rooney opened the scoring account within the first minute of the clash before Michael Carrick made it 2–0 to The Reds with a brilliant individual display thirteen minutes into the second half.

The West London club have never managed to defeat Manchester United in the English Premier League, either at Old Trafford or at their Loftus Road  home. And as expected before the game, Sir Alex Ferguson´s Manchester United started with the purpose of a team looking to overtake Premier League table toppers Manchester City. With less than a minute gone of the lunchtime match, The Mancunians went into an early lead when Ecuador international Antonio Valencia delightfully crossed for the strong running Wayne Rooney who managed to head the red shirts into to a 1–0 lead from close range. Only a couple of minutes later, though, Danny Welbeck should have netted a second goal for Manchester United but his effort was brilliantly saved by Czech Republic international Radek Cerny. In the 56th minute of the encounter, however, a dreadful mistake from Queens Park Rangers midfield man Joey Barton allowed Manchester United playmaker Michael Carrick to rifle a powerful low shot behind the helpless home goalkeeper and into the back of the net from 20 yards out. Despite winning comfortably against Neil Warnock´s Queens Park Rangers side yesterday, the Manchester United players are still two points behind fellow title challengers Manchester City who won their home game against Arsenal by a score of 1–0. In their next Premier League match, Manchester United will make the journey to Craven Cottage to take on Fulham on Wednesday evening. Manchester United Team: David de Gea, Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra, Valencia, Phil Jones, Michael Carrick, Luis Nani, Wayne Rooney, Danny Welbeck.
