Manchester United Could Make A Move

In his con­stant search for per­fec­tion, Sir Alex Fer­guson could make a sur­prise move for FC Porto speed mer­chant James Rodrig­uez. A bril­liant drib­bler of the ball, the youth has im­pressed the Manchester United boss with a string of ex­cel­lent per­form­ances for The Blue and Whites in the Primeira Liga dur­ing the last couple of seasons.

James Rodrig­uez kick star­ted his pro­fes­sional foot­balling ca­reer with Colom­bian Second Di­vison out­fit En­vi­gado FC be­fore the prom­ising pro­spect agreed to move to Buenos Aires side At­letico Ban­field where he earned his first team de­but in a con­vin­cing 3–1 suc­cess against Ros­ario Cent­ral at the Es­ta­dio Floren­cio Sola in Feb­ru­ary 2009. At the be­gin­ning of the 2010-11 cam­paign, how­ever, the in­dus­tri­ous and in­vent­ive young­ster was brought to FC Porto and he has so far con­trib­uted 15 league goals in 41 out­ings for the Es­ta­dio do Dragao club. An in­ter­na­tional for his nat­ive Colom­bia, the pacy and power­ful flank­man made his first senior ap­pear­ance for The Cof­fee Grow­ers in a close 2–1 vic­tory over fel­low South Amer­ic­ans Bolivia at the Es­ta­dio Hernando Siles in La Paz in Oc­to­ber 2011. James Rodrig­uez, who has at­trac­ted the at­ten­tion of a num­ber of lead­ing European clubs through his im­press­ive dis­plays for both club and coun­try, is be­lieved to carry a price tag of at least £25 mil­lion. Ac­cord­ing to the player´s agent, talks with the Por­tuguese Primeira Liga club will take place in due course. Silvio Sandri: “We must await de­vel­op­ments and on the of­fer it­self, I don’t have much else to say. The life of James Rodrig­uez has been based on small steps and play­ing it safe. Now he is happy at Porto and pro­gress­ing a lot.”
