Manchester United eased to victory as Sir Alex Ferguson´s troops demolished the MLS All Stars 4–0 at the Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Wednesday night after goals from Anderson, Ji-Sung Park, Dimitar Berbatov and Danny Welback. Former Manchester United and England hero David Beckham played all ninety minutes of the friendly for the MLS All Stars and the Los Angeles Galaxy star had a good game for the hosts.
Anderson scored the opening goal when the all action midfield ace rifled the ball into the bottom right corner of the net in the 20 the minute of the game before South Korea player Ji-sung Park added a second goal shortly before the interval. Just seven minutes after the resumption, the irrepressible Dimitar Berbatov latched onto a long punt forward from Wayne Rooney to make the scoreline read 3–0 in Manchester United´s favour. Substitute Danny Welback scored the fourth goal in the 68th minute with an effort from outside the penalty area that took a deflection off Houston Dynamo defender Geoff Cameron on its way into the net. The match was undoubtedly a good work out for Manchester United who will return to England on Sunday, ahead of their Community Shield game against rivals Manchester City. Alas, Mexico international Javier Hernandez was absent last night as the striker suffered concussion during training at the Red Bull Arena on Tuesday.
