Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United make the short journey to Merseyside this Sunday to take on Kenny Dalglish´s Liverpool team whose pride probably is still hurting after they were defeated by their bitter historical rivals in the FA Cup Third Round in January. The home side have won eight, drawn two and lost two games at Anfield this season, while Sir Alex Ferguson´s players have won four, drawn eight and lost two matches away from Old Trafford.

Sir Alex Ferguson: “It was said last season that it was the end of the golden era for English soccer, but the evidence is there to disprove that. Tottenham Hotspur and Arsenal both had impressive wins and you just have to look at the record of English clubs for the last seven years. Manchester United have regularly been in semi finals and the club have been in two finals, Arsenal have been in one final, Chelsea have been in one final and Liverpool in two finals. The Barclays Premier League is no question a great league. However, Tottenham Hotspur have replaced Liverpool as the fourth club and they are improving.”

Manchester United have not beaten Liverpool away since December 2007.
