Manchester United Sink The Swans
Manchester United bagged another important three points as they edged out Brendan Rodgers´s Swansea City team by 1–0 in front of a capacity crowd at Liberty Stadium on Saturday evening. The winning goal arrived after eleven minutes of play as evergreen midfield orchestrator Ryan Giggs delivered a brilliant square pass to lone frontrunner Javier Hernandez who put the visitors into a 1–0 lead from close range.
Swansea City´s unbeaten home record in the Barclays Premier League this season finally ended with a narrow defeat to Sir Alex Ferguson´s Manchester United. In the 11th minute of the closely contested encounter, a fatal mistake by Swansea right fullback Angel Rangel allowed former Wales player Ryan Giggs to cross for natural born goal plunderer Javier Hernandez who easily tapped the ball into the back of the net from just a few yards out. Although the determined and hard working home team went close on a number of occasions during the second period, the stubborn and well organised Manchester United defence kept yet another clean sheet. Cardiff born Ryan Giggs, who has been in wonderful touch this campaign, enjoyed an excellent match against The Swans until the seasoned campaigner eventually was replaced by fellow midfield player Darren Fletcher with fifteen minutes left on the clock. Versatile defender Phil Jones could have scored a second goal in the closing stages of the clash but his ferocious shot hit the post. Despite defeating newly promoted Swansea City on Saturday, Manchester United still remain five points behind cash-rich neighbours Manchester City.
