Goals from Nemanja Vidic and Nani handed Manchester United a 2–0 win over Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford on Saturday. The Reds almost took the lead after two minutes when a low Ji-Sung Park strike from 25 yards out cannoned off the post. After both teams had missed several opportunities between them, Nemanja Vidic put Manchester United ahead as he headed a fine free-kick from Nani into the net after 29 minutes. The second goal came in the 83rd minute when quick-thinking Nani took advantage of some confusion in the penalty area to score his fifth goal of the season.
The opening goal came after 29 minutes as Serbia international Nemanja Vidic headed a brilliant Nani free-kick past the Tottenham keeper and into the back of the net. After the break Manchester United slowly but surely got on top thanks to the hard work of midfield dynamoes Darren Fletcher and Michael Carrick. The Manchester United supporters were screaming for a penalty after 83 minutes when Nani was brought down by Kaboul. The Portugal international, aware that the referee had not blown his whistle, kept his cool and calmly put the ball into the empty net to make the final scoreline read 2–0. Although the furious Tottenham players complained energetically, referee Mark Clattenburg awarded the goal. Despite collectiing another three points against Harry Redknapp’s men, Manchester United remain third in the Premier League table, five points behind rivals Chelsea.
Manchester United have yet to lose a match in the English Premier League this season.
