Sir Alex Ferguson

Manchester United play Manchester City at Old Trafford this Sunday in what on paper looks to be a battle of epic proportions. In the corresponding Premier League fixture last campaign, Sir Alex Ferguson’s men defeated Roberto Mancini´s side 2–1 thanks to a brilliant overhead kick from Wayne Rooney in the 78th minute of the contest.

Manchester United´s poor relations have been wandering in the valley of desperation ever since former Aberdeen and Scotland boss Alex Ferguson headed down south from north of the border to take over the managerial reigns at Old Trafford in November 1986. And although Abu Dhabi owned Manchester City top the wages league at the moment, they are a long way from overtaking crosstown adversaries Manchester United. According to Sir Alex Ferguson, Manchester City are a small club with a small mentality and all that they talk about is Manchester United. A very economical use of  words, indeed.
