Paul Scholes

Manchester United veteran Paul Scholes may put his retirement plans on hold for another season. The smooth passing midfield orchestrator initially retired at the end of last campaign but he made an unexpected return to the Manchester United first team in the 3–2 triumph against Manchester City at Eastlands back in January.

Paul Scholes signed professional terms with Manchester United in the summer of 1993 and made his Premier League debut in a 3–2 defeat to Ipswich Town at Portman Road the following year. A courageous and dependable performer deployed right in the middle of the park, the club stalwart has so far amassed well over 600 first class appearances for The Manchester Reds. Arguably, his most memorable moment as a professional footballer came when Manchester United narrowly defeated old adversaries Bayern Munich 2–1 in the UEFA Champions League Final at Camp Nou in Barcelona in May 1999.
