England manager Roy Hodgson was full of praise for his players after the midweek game against Italy at The Stade de Suisse Wankdorf in the city of Berne. The Three Lions came from behind to eventually defeat Cesare Prandelli´s Italy side by 2–1 courtesy of goals from Phil Jagielka and second half substitute Jermain Defoe respectively.
The England manager was also impressed with Manchester United midfield player Tom Cleverley who made his international senior debut on Wednesday. Roy Hodgson: “We know Tom Cleverley is a good player and an important player for Manchester United, who was unlucky to get injured early last season. I have been pleased to see Tom Cleverley in the form he has been showing this season for Team Great Britain in the 2012 London Summer Olympics and it was terrific for him to play for the England first team.”
