England take on old historical enemies France at Donbass Arena Stadium in Donetskin in their opening match in the 2012 European Championships this Monday. The last time The Three Lions met France in a competitive game was in Euro 2004 in Portugal when two late goals from Zinedine Zidane secured a 2–1 victory for Les Tricolores.
Roy Hodgson: “It’s been a three weeks where I feel I have very quickly been accepted by the group and feel comfortable in my position. It is a stern challenge, we´re facing a team that is in excellent form and 21 matches unbeaten. I think when you come to the European Championships to some extend having good form or bad form isn’t necessarily the factor which is going to be decisive, it is how your team is able to play on the night.” England Squad: Robert Green, Joe Hart, John Ruddy, Leighton Baines, Gary Cahill, Glen Johnson, Ashley Cole, Phil Jones, Joleon Lescott, John Terry, Gareth Barry, Stewart Downing, Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Scott Parker, Theo Walcott, Ashley Young, Daniel Welbeck, Jermain Defoe, Andy Carroll.
