A challenge from Nigel de Jong on Danny Welbeck led to a furious touchline row between Manchester United chief Sir Alex Ferguson and his Manchester City counterpart Roberto Mancini on Monday. Although the two managers shook hands after the full time whistle had gone, Sir Alex later blamed the Italian coach for the incident.
According to Sir Alex Ferguson, Roberto Mancini was badgering the referee the whole game, the fourth official and linesman. After defeating old foes Manchester United 1–0 at Eastlands, Manchester City now lead the English Premier League on goal difference with only two matches remaining of the campaign. In their next game, Manchester United will play host to Brendan Rodgers´s Swansea City side at Old Trafford while Manchester City travel north to Newcastle to take on Newcastle United at St James´s Park.
