Sir Alex Ferguson Slams Spending
August 18, 2010 by Chris Marker · 1 Comment
Newly rich Manchester City taking their summer spending close to the £130 million mark has left firebrand manager Sir Alex Ferguson absolutely stunned. Accordingly, the Manchester United Head Coach has now launched a massive attack at the Eastlands club by condemning their spending habits and lack of responsibility.
In their bid to propel The Light Blues towards the top end of the top four, the Abu Dhabi United Group have spent almost £350 million since they acquired the club in 2008. By comparison, Sir Alex Ferguson has invested a modest £25 million this summer as he knows splashing out huge sums of cash is not the only way to ensure future success. The financial disparity between English football clubs has probably never been greater, with a handful of Premier League managers driving up transfer prices in their desperate quest for success. Despite of the fact that Manchester United have long held the upper hand in the Manchester intense rivalry, Manchester City now seem to march more or less steadily forwards into their footballing future backed by owners Abu Dhabi United Group’s millions. Nevertheless, Italian manager Roberto Mancini knows perfectly well that Middle Eastern billionaires are not particularly known for their patience. Apparently, the industrial city of Manchester is a relatively exotic place to be at the very moment.
