The Reds Closing In On Porto Player
Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to make a serious bid for FC Porto player Joao Moutinho this summer. The dynamic box-to-box midfield orchestrator has been the subject of interest from a number of English Premier League clubs lately, including Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur following a series of fine displays for his club and country.
Joao Moutinho kick started his round-ball career at Sporting Lisbon where he made his Primeira Liga debut in a convincing 3–0 victory against Gil Vicente at the Estadio Cidade de Barcelos in January 2005. After contributing 21 league goals in 163 appearances for The Lions, the highly regarded and sought after midfield prospect eventually signed a five-year contract with fellow Primeira Liga team FC Porto at the beginning of the 2010-11 season. One of Portugal´s most coveted footballers, Joao Moutinho played all the games for the country of his birth at the 2012 European Championships tournament in Poland and Ukraine this summer.
