Reigning Premier League champions Manchester United play hosts to Harry Redknapp´s Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford this Monday evening. Manchester United will badly miss the services of central defenders Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic who are both sidelined with injuries while Tottenham have long term injury absentees in William Gallas, Alan Hutton, Jermaine Jenas, Ledley King, Steven Pienaar and Wilson Palacios.
Sir Alex Ferguson: “The responsibility will lie with Chris Smalling, Chris Jones, Jonny Evans and David de Gea on Monday night. You cannot beat experience. Top level players with experience are vital. There is no question about that. But we do not have them and we are confident in the players who are replacing them. Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic are aware of the abilities of the young players there is no question about that. There is nothing you can do if they are injured so it is not an issue for me at the moment in terms of deciding who will be central defenders because they are both injured. When Ferdinand and Vidic are both fit, or one of them is, then I will have a decision to make.”
