Reign­ing Premier League cham­pi­ons Manchester United play hosts to Harry Redknapp´s Tot­ten­ham Hot­spur at Old Traf­ford this Monday even­ing. Manchester United will badly miss the ser­vices of cent­ral defend­ers Rio Ferdin­and and Nemanja Vidic who are both side­lined with injur­ies while Tot­ten­ham have long term injury absent­ees in Wil­liam Gal­las, Alan Hut­ton, Jer­maine Jenas, Led­ley King, Steven Pien­aar and Wilson Palacios.

Sir Alex Fer­guson: “The respons­ib­il­ity will lie with Chris Smalling, Chris Jones, Jonny Evans and David de Gea on Monday night. You can­not beat exper­i­ence. Top level play­ers with exper­i­ence are vital. There is no ques­tion about that. But we do not have them and we are con­fid­ent in the play­ers who are repla­cing them. Rio Ferdin­and and Nemanja Vidic are aware of the abil­it­ies of the young play­ers there is no ques­tion about that. There is noth­ing you can do if they are injured so it is not an issue for me at the moment in terms of decid­ing who will be cent­ral defend­ers because they are both injured. When Ferdin­and and Vidic are both fit, or one of them is, then I will have a decision to make.”
