The iconic number seven jersey has previously been worn by footballing greats like George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo over the years.
The Manchester United speed merchant has revealed to the press that he is both grateful and humbled by the Old Trafford club´s confidence in him after he was offered the number seven jersey by manager Sir Alex Ferguson. Antonio Valencia´s old number 25 shirt, by the way, was given to Nick Powell who arrived from Crewe Alexandra just a few weeks ago. Antonio Valencia: “I am excited to be wearing the number seven shirt in the coming season. It is a number I really respect because so many great players have worn the shirt and made history for Manchester United in it. Now I hope I can write my own. It is a new adventure but it is something I am very relaxed about and also humbled by.”
