Fabio Capello’s England team lock horns with reigning World Cup winners Spain in an international friendly encounter at Wembley Stadium this upcoming Saturday. The Three Lions manager has decided, however, to leave Wayne Rooney out of the squad for the game as the prolific Manchester United goal poacher will be suspended for the first three matches of the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.
Fabio Capello; “I spoke to Wayne Rooney and told him he would not be selected for this game and he understood this. Spain play a different style to other teams and the Rooney position will be really important not only in this game but when we play in the Euros. It will be difficult for us because Spain have improved quite a lot. They´ve won the European Championships and the World Cup which has given them confidence. It will be important for the players playing on Saturday to know the value of the World Cup winners.”
