The Manchester United play­ers pack their bags and travel to Tyneside to take on Alan Pardew´s New­castle United at St James Park on Tues­day even­ing look­ing for three more points. Eng­land inter­na­tional Wayne Rooney will return from sus­pen­sion but Manchester United will miss ever­green mid­field play­maker Paul Scholes fol­low­ing his red card in the 1–0 defeat against bit­ter crosstown rivals Manchester City at Wemb­ley last Saturday.

Sir Alex Fer­guson: “With Paul Scholes we have seen it over his play­ing career. Scholes has had unbe­liev­able moments and is a great player, one of the greatest ever at Manchester United. But he has these red mist moments and this was another one. He was unfor­tu­nate as he went for the ball and it bounced up and he has gone through and caught the boy on the thigh. We are get­ting recovered to get ready for the next match. You have got to recover and get on a win­ning streak again and it is a major game up at Newcastle.”
