After suffering a shock 2–1 defeat away to Swiss minnows FC Basel in the UEFA Champions League last week, Manchester United silenced their critics with an emphatic and convincing 4–1 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers at Old Trafford on Saturday. As a result of the victory, Sir Alex Ferguson´s men are now only two points behind leaders Manchester City who lost 2–1 to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge yesterday.

Sir Alex Ferguson´s title challenging side eased to a deserved and ultimately comfortable 4–1 triumph over Wolverhampton Wanderers at their Old Trafford home on Saturday afternoon thanks to two goals each from Nani and Wayne Rooney. Sir Alex Ferguson´s men need a point against Thorsten Fink´s FC Basel team in their final UEFA Champions League Group C game to progress on to the next round. In the reverse fixture at Old Trafford in September, England international Ashley Young scored the equalising goal for Manchester United in the very last minute of the high scoring encounter after the Swiss champions had come from behind to lead 3–2.
