After defeat­ing reign­ing World Cup and European Cham­pi­ons Spain 1–0 at Wemb­ley Sta­dium last Sat­urday, Fabio Capello´s Eng­land team play hosts to Sweden on Tues­day. The Three Lions, who will be without lead­ing marks­man Wayne Rooney for this fix­ture, haven´t won an inter­na­tional against Sweden since 1968 when goals from Bobby Charlton, Mar­tin Peters and Roger Hunt secured a respect­able 3–1 home win.

Fabio Capello´s Eng­land play­ers gained a fully deserved and hard fought tri­umph against World Cup win­ners and European cham­pi­ons Spain at Wemb­ley Sta­dium on Sat­urday night. The Span­iards con­trolled large parts of the match in mid­field but a close range header from Eng­land cap­tain Frank Lam­pard in the 49th minute of the friendly match saw the determ­ined and hard work­ing home team run­ning out 1–0 winners.
