After defeating reigning World Cup and European Champions Spain 1–0 at Wembley Stadium last Saturday, Fabio Capello´s England team play hosts to Sweden on Tuesday. The Three Lions, who will be without leading marksman Wayne Rooney for this fixture, haven´t won an international against Sweden since 1968 when goals from Bobby Charlton, Martin Peters and Roger Hunt secured a respectable 3–1 home win.

Fabio Capello´s England players gained a fully deserved and hard fought triumph against World Cup winners and European champions Spain at Wembley Stadium on Saturday night. The Spaniards controlled large parts of the match in midfield but a close range header from England captain Frank Lampard in the 49th minute of the friendly match saw the determined and hard working home team running out 1–0 winners.

Fabio Capello’s England team lock horns with reigning World Cup winners Spain in an international friendly encounter at Wembley Stadium this upcoming Saturday. The Three Lions manager has decided, however, to leave Wayne Rooney out of the squad for the game as the prolific Manchester United goal poacher will be suspended for the first three matches of the 2012 European Championships in Poland and Ukraine.

Hailing from Hamilton, David Herd initiated his professional career with Stockport County where the young and talented striker clocked up 15 league appearances before he was sold to Arsenal for £10,000 in 1954. Manchester United Chief Executive David Gill announced before the Premier League encounter with Steve Bruce´s Sunderland that the club have renamed their North stand after manager Sir Alex Ferguson in honour of his 25 years of dedicated service to the Old Trafford side.

An own goal from unfortunate defender Wes Brown handed Manchester United a narrow 1–0 triumph against a struggling Sunderland team at Old Trafford on Saturday. Shortly before the sound of the half time signal, the former Manchester United and England favourite managed to deflect a header from Danny Welbeck into the back of his own net to give Sir Alex Ferguson´s players their fourth consecutive win.

Manchester United had no problems in defeating Otelul Galati 2–0 at Old Trafford yesterday. Antonio Valencia tucked away a hard and low cross ball from Phil Jones for 1–0 in the eight minute of the UEFA Champions League tie, while a deflected shot from newly converted midfield player Wayne Rooney made the scoreline read 2–0 in favour of the home side with just three minutes remaining of normal time.
